iPad Mobile Device Management Removal

Congratulations Graduate! As a UK undergraduate student, you were issued an iPad along with compatible accessories for your academic success. We are excited to let you know your iPad is yours to keep - and you can take it with you as you move forward into your next chapter.

Now that you have graduated, the UK Smart Campus team will be removing the Mobile Device Management (MDM) profile from your iPad. Upon receiving your iPad, MDM was in place to ensure your device stayed secure and updated for academic purposes.

Mass MDM removal occurs at the end of each semester, in May and December, for graduates.

If you want to begin the removal process prior to the mass MDM removal dates, please fill out the ticket above or visit one of our help desk locations.

Please refer to our iPad Initiative FAQ page for more information.

Important

The removal will reset the iPad to its factory settings, and you’ll lose all data on the device. We recommend uploading any files you wish to save to a personal cloud storage solution (iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) as soon as possible. Click here for instructions on how to transfer your files.

  • UK has never– and will never– access any personal data or location information from your device.
  • The MDM removal process will occur if, and only if a student graduates from a bachelor’s degree program.

After the reset is finished, you'll need to set up your iPad as a “new iPad.” Restoring from a backup will automatically reinstall the MDM profile.

For the MDM removal process to complete successfully, please ensure that your iPad is:

  • Powered on
  • Connected to Wi-Fi
  • Charging

You must fill out the form before completing the step by step process listed below.

Note: The steps are different for Mac and Windows users. Video tutorials are linked below to guide you through the MDM removal process for each device.
