iPad Mobile Device Management Removal

As part of your undergraduate journey at UK, you were issued an iPad along with compatible accessories to help you succeed academically. We’re excited to let you know that this iPad is now yours to keep – and you can take it with you as you move forward into your next chapter.

The UK Smart Campus team will be removing the Mobile Device Management (MDM) profile from your iPad, which will unlock the device for personal use. When you first received your iPad, MDM was in place to ensure your device stayed updated and secure for academic purposes. Now that you have graduated, the MDM will be removed, allowing you to use your iPad however you like.

The removal will reset the iPad to its factory settings, and you’ll lose all data on the device. We recommend uploading any files you wish to save to a personal cloud storage solution (iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) as soon as possible. Click here for instructions on how to transfer your files.

  • UK has never—and will never—access any personal data or location information from your device.
  • The MDM removal process will occur if, and only if a student graduates from a bachelor’s
    degree program.

Please refer to our iPad Initiative FAQ page for more information.

Important

After the reset is finished, you'll need to set up your iPad as a “new iPad.” Restoring from a backup will automatically reinstall the MDM profile.

For the MDM removal process to complete successfully, please ensure that your iPad is:

  • Powered on
  • Connected to Wi-Fi
  • Charging

The videos below provide step-by-step instructions for removing the Mobile Device Management (MDM) profile from your UKY iPad upon graduation.
