In any given day, University of Kentucky students — in-state and out-of-state — will utilize iPads, provided to them through the Smart Campus Initiative, in myriad ways. 

UK Board Approves Funding for 2nd Year of iPads

The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees has approved the purchase of Apple equipment to continue the Smart Campus Initiative into its second year at UK. The approval pushes forward the university’s information technology (IT) strategic plan, which includes the deployment of Apple iPads and accessories to first-year university students, designed to enhance pedagogy and innovative learning and build skills that prepare UK students for future success.

iPad Initiative Speaker Series Continues With Allison Soult

Allison Soult, senior lecturer in the Department of Chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences, will address the University of Kentucky community at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, in the Gatton Student Center as the next speaker in the iPad Initiative Speaker Series.  Soult will discuss how she and her students use the iPad before, during and after class to enhance learning. She will also share some examples of digital in-class activities and her favorite apps to use in teaching.

Upcoming Town Hall to Discuss Esports

The University of Kentucky will host an Esports Town Hall to discuss UK’s vision on how esports can be a platform for student success, belonging and career development. Provost David Blackwell and Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration Eric Monday will speak on this topic for faculty and staff along with a brief overview of the Winslow construction.

Spring iPad Initiative Speaker Series Kicks off Feb. 11 With 'Incorporating iPad Technology Into Your Classes’

The Smart Campus Initiative, along with the Center for Enhanced Learning and Teaching, will host a series of talks by University of Kentucky faculty who have integrated iPads into their teaching.  The speakers will discuss what they have done to re-envision their courses and assignments; talk through ideas that did and didn’t work; and provide insight as to how they navigated challenges along the way.

UK Alumna, 'Cheddar Esports' Host Erin Simon Helps Connect UK to Esports

​Esports is​ the competitive multiplayer video game industry that is taking the world by storm. Erin Simon, a University of Kentucky College of Communication and Information alumna, has become a huge part of that world. The New Jersey native is currently an anchor and host for "Cheddar Esports," a live esports and gaming news show.

University of Kentucky Smart Campus Initiative Continues to Gain Momentum

UK, Signet Real Estate Group Break Ground on $34M Mixed-Use Parking, Innovation Center

University of Kentucky and Signet Real Estate Group have broken ground on a mixed-use parking facility in Lexington that includes over 900 new parking spaces and over 23,000 square feet of innovation and retail space that will revitalize one of the main corridors into the UK campus, located at the corner of S. Limestone and Winslow Street.
